Concrete Staining in Bryant

Concrete staining for Bryant homes: what to know

Patios, porches and front walks in Bryant often carry red clay stains that won't wash out with a hose. Cleaning, staining and sealing the concrete gives it even color and makes future cleanup much easier. We test the slab for old sealer first so the stain absorbs evenly.

Bryant's newer subdivisions mean lots of wood privacy fences, decks, covered patios and concrete slabs from the 1990s on, and Saline County's red clay splashes up all of them with every storm.

Concrete has to be clean and dry to take color, and Central Arkansas's red clay and spring rain work against both. We clean first, let the slab dry, and test it with a few drops of water: if they bead up, an old sealer is still there and has to be dealt with before stain will soak in. Cure times run longer in cool or humid weather, so we schedule around the forecast.

You'll know the scope before we start: what we're coating, how we'll prep it and what it will cost.

Clay-stained concrete needs a real cleaning before color goes on. We degrease and wash first so the stain doesn't lock the clay in.

Concrete Staining questions from Bryant homeowners

Don't see your question? Call us and we'll answer it.

Call 501-476-2706
Can old or sealed concrete be stained?

Often, yes. Sprinkle a little water on it: if it soaks in and darkens, the slab can take stain. If it beads up, there's a sealer or coating that has to be removed first, or an opaque coating may be the better choice.

Will stained concrete be slippery?

Sealers can make concrete slicker when wet. For steps, pool areas and walkways, an anti-slip additive can be mixed into the sealer.

How soon can we walk on it?

Light foot traffic is usually fine within a day, with furniture and vehicles later, depending on the product and weather. We'll give you exact times.

Do you stain new concrete?

New concrete needs to cure before it's stained, usually around a month. We'll confirm timing when we look at it.

Do Bryant subdivisions regulate exterior colors?

Many do. A lot of Bryant subdivisions have covenants covering exterior colors and fences. Check yours before you choose, and we can provide color names and samples to submit.

Are you licensed and insured for concrete work?

Yes. Revive Paint holds an Arkansas Residential Home Improvement License (#0478560127), which covers painting, cabinets, concrete and special coatings, and we carry general liability insurance on every job.
