Concrete Staining in Central Arkansas

Concrete staining for Central Arkansas homes: what to know

Patios, porches, walkways and steps across Central Arkansas tend to fade to a flat gray and pick up red clay and rust stains that won't wash out. Concrete stain or coating, finished with a sealer, gives those surfaces even, lasting color that ties them into the rest of your exterior. Revive Paint's Arkansas Residential Home Improvement License lists concrete and special coatings among its specialties, and we test every slab for old sealers before we start, because that's what decides whether stain will soak in evenly.

Concrete has to be clean and dry to take color, and Central Arkansas's red clay and spring rain work against both. We clean first, let the slab dry, and test it with a few drops of water: if they bead up, an old sealer is still there and has to be dealt with before stain will soak in. Cure times run longer in cool or humid weather, so we schedule around the forecast.

You'll know the scope before we start: what we're coating, how we'll prep it and what it will cost.

Why choose us

Why Central Arkansas homeowners choose Revive Paint

We started Revive Paint with a simple idea: do careful work, tell people the truth and clean up after ourselves.

Licensed for concrete

Our Arkansas Residential Home Improvement License lists concrete and special coatings among its specialties.

Tested before we color

We check for old sealers and coatings first, so the color goes on evenly instead of blotching.

Sealed to last

Every project ends with a sealer suited to the surface, so the color holds up to foot traffic and weather.

Our process

How we handle concrete staining, step by step

  1. 1

    Free on-site estimate

We look at the slab, check for cracks, old sealers and coatings, talk colors and finishes, and put the scope in writing.

  2. 2

    Clean and degrease

The concrete is washed and degreased to remove dirt, clay stains and residue.

  3. 3

    Test and prep

We water-test for old sealer, mask siding, doors and landscaping, and let the slab dry fully.

  4. 4

    Apply color

Stain or solid coating goes on in even coats to the color you chose.

  5. 5

    Seal and cure

A protective sealer is applied, and we tell you when it's ready for foot traffic and furniture.

Concrete Staining FAQ

Concrete Staining questions from Central Arkansas homeowners

Don't see your question? Call us and we'll answer it.

Call 501-476-2706
Can old or sealed concrete be stained?

Often, yes. Sprinkle a little water on it: if it soaks in and darkens, the slab can take stain. If it beads up, there's a sealer or coating that has to be removed first, or an opaque coating may be the better choice.

How long does concrete sealer last?

Acrylic sealers typically last one to three years on exterior concrete, and penetrating sealers about three to seven, depending on sun and traffic.

Will stained concrete be slippery?

Sealers can make concrete slicker when wet. For steps, pool areas and walkways, an anti-slip additive can be mixed into the sealer.

How soon can we walk on it?

Light foot traffic is usually fine within a day, with furniture and vehicles later, depending on the product and weather. We'll give you exact times.

Do you stain new concrete?

New concrete needs to cure before it's stained, usually around a month. We'll confirm timing when we look at it.

Are you licensed and insured for concrete work?

Yes. Revive Paint holds an Arkansas Residential Home Improvement License (#0478560127), which covers painting, cabinets, concrete and special coatings, and we carry general liability insurance on every job.
